Yep, I was a proud owner of one of these crimping irons. In fact, I swear every second girl had a crimping iron. Imagine your straightener iron with a couple of grill plates that perfectly zig zag and close together. Then, this afternoon, I was flicking through the TV channels, and walking down the catwalk on the fashion channel, was a young lady with wildly crimped hair!! So you may want to consider purchasing one of these, as part of your own fashion repertoire. You don't have to crimp all of your hair. Often just the fringe or sections of your hair just need to be crimped. You don't even need to do the under layers, if you don't want. To crimp your hair, you'll need to beg, borrow or buy a hair crimping iron, and use it, much the same you would a straightening iron. Now, if you don't plan on crimping your hair more than once, you won't want to buy a hair crimper. Assuming you can't borrow one, there is something else you can do. 12 hours before you get ready, create a heap of little plats/braids in your hair. You may want to recruit a sister or friend to help put these in. Make your plats as small and tight as possible. It's important they are all even in thickness size, otherwise you will get different size crimps. Let your hair dry throughout the day or night. Unwrap your plats/braids, and you'll have the closest thing you can get to crimped hair. Add some hair spray and woila. Beautiful. Don't forget 80s hair accessories to use with your 80s crimped hair.
