80s Dresses

80s dresses are an awesome costume item, which you should be able to find fairly cheaply. You will know the perfect dress when you see it!

First of all, work out what makes a classic dress from the 80s.

• Bold colour
  
• Shoulder pads
  
• Any size belt, from slim to wide. (Usually around the waist)
  
• Baggy top section with a mini skirt bottom section
  
• Frills
  
• Polka dots

This photo was taken in the early 80s - 1982. I'll dig up some dresses from the mid and late 80s. Yep, I have the dorky hair cut. :-) Not long after though, I went to the hair dresser and asked for a "Lady Di" hair cut. (Which just meant short hair in a layered style)

Note my mum's blue eye shadow and permed hair! Cool, hey?

So where do you find these awesome 80s delights?

First, I would ask Mum, and the aunties.

Or try the good 'ol op/charity/vintage clothing shop. As I say, it will be like treasure hunting.

Don't forget, you will usually do well, by searching

Match your dress, with pearl necklaces and dangley, colourful 80s earrings and of course an 80s hair style.
