80s Happy Pants Pattern

Make Your Own Pair - It's Easy!

The 80s happy pants pattern, is basically an easy shorts pattern. You may already know how to sew basic shorts and have a suitable pattern.

For the rest of us, I have collaborated with Sue Locke from the UK, and she has created wonderful step by step instructions, with an easy to use pattern.

80s Happy Pants, Happy Pants, Make your own happy pants

All you do, is sticky tape the easy shorts pattern together, (or just pin directly on the material) and cut around the markings for your size.

Sizes included:

- Small = 89-94 cm (35-37”)

- Medium = 99-104 cm (39-41”)

- Large = 109-114 cm (43-45”)

- Extra Large = 119-124 cm (47-49”)

As you can download the pattern, you can print and cut out as many copies, therefore sizes, of the pattern you want.

Materials Required:

- 1.50m (1 ½ yds) of 150 cm (60”) wide cotton fabric

- 1.50m (1 ½ yds) of 1.5 cm (1/2”) wide elastic.


When choosing your fabric for using your 80s Happy Pants pattern, consider the following:

* Use kids fabric

* Bold, bright designs

* Easy to use and comfortable to wear cotton material

The instructions are very easy to follow. Here's an example, with the step by step photographs.

Steps to sew

1. Take the 2 front pieces and with right sides of the fabric together pin then stitch the centre front seam (see image). Now do the same with the 2 back pieces, stitching the centre back seam.

2. With sharp scissors clip a little way into the seam allowance on the curved areas of the front and back to help it to sit smoothly.

3. Take the front and back pieces and with right sides together pin together at the inside leg seam then stitch (see image). how to make your own happy pants with this easy shorts pattern.
