Anyway, these should get you started in your search. |
I kid you not, I have found a couple of red hot opportunities for awesome 80s props recently. First of all, a very good friend of mine who also grew up in the 80s, said she was going to ditch her 80s singles and LP (long play) albums to whoever wanted them. She moved out of home in her teens, and left this sort of stuff at home. Her mum had a clean up and wanted it all gone. You may get lucky in a similar scenario to this too. These are great to scatter around as conversation pieces, and hang on the walls as posters, too! Secondly, I was wasting a bit of time browsing in a an opportunity shop (charity shop), and found so many awesome 80s records and tapes for only $1 each. Unless if they catch on that these things are in demand again, you may be lucky too. Thirdly, as I am building my 80s fashion website, I asked a few work colleagues if they had any original photos of them in 80s gear. Wow! I was totally impressed to hear that they had also plenty of their clothes still from the 80s. Totally cool! The
Rubiks Cube
is enjoying a come back. In Australia, this fantastic 80s prop is just under $20, which is not cheap. However, the wow factor from the people who were really there in the 80s, and those that wish they were, is absolutely priceless. Highly recommended purchase for the 80s night. (Psst, it's cheaper online. Click on the cube to check)

See how you go, with finding props in these crazy areas, too. Also, think about buying a black-light, from your local hardware or lighting store. If people wear
fluro or neon clothes,
you'll have an awesome ambiance and effect. I would love a disco glitter ball, but I haven't seen any good cheap ones around. 80s Party Decorations Righto, here are some awesome 80s bits, worth buying online, instead of driving all around town searching. Just remember, the 80s were about cool, coloured shapes, and pushing the boundary on a bit of extravagance and fun. This is why I recommend looking at some of the items below. You can't go wrong with putting up heaps of balloons, and they are really cheap and always look great. 80s Party Games and Entertainment Think about some entertainment. Obviously, you are going to be playing really cool 80s tunes! (You better be! Don't make me come over there!!) I would love to assume that each and every one of you looking at this page can easily acquire 80s tunes via friends or family, if you do not have enough of your own. Depending on the "play" spaces you have around you, beg borrow and steal a Playstation 2 or 3, and play 80s Singstar. Alternately, find an X Box 360 and play 80s Rockband. If you also have the space, set up ten pin bowling on the wii as well. If you only have one or two controllers, ask a friend if they can bring theirs over, so you'll have 4. Of course, it goes without saying, if you know someone with an Atari, or who can set up the old 80s games like Frogger and Asteroids somewhere, that would be cool. Hold an 80s trivia game. With Google and Wiki as your friend, you should be able to have some fun. I have the Trivial Pursuit for the 80s, which we play the faster way. Each correct answer equals pie. If you have access to this game, leave the cards out, so people can randomly ask 80s questions for fun. Make your own version of Celebrity Head. Use rolled bandannas or material to make three or four
headbands
as worn by Rambo and The Karate Kid. Write down characters names on cut up pieces up paper, and sticky tape them on, once the contestant is wearing the bandanna. Someone told me they had heard about playing pin the glove on Michael Jackson. You could use a real glove or cut one out from a piece of card. Silver card even. Get your poster from All Posters. I'll put a link below.

80s Party Food Thinking about food? As long as it's yummy, it probably won't matter too much what you supply. Having said that though, I remember in Australia's regional areas, we were very excited to see the take away revolution evolve from the fish and chip shops, to the big international giants. In 1984, whenever it was someone's birthday, and if we could afford it, it was a big deal to go to Pizza Hut for dinner. We used to order the extra large ham and pineapple pizzas. So I guess some Pizza Hut pizzas may be an idea too. Although, they probably will be a lot smaller these days. Then again, they are probably cheaper than what we paid back then, too. In 1987, I went to the Gold Coast, and a McDonalds store with a
Camp Quality
group. I had never been to McDonalds before, as they weren't in my town yet. So I ordered a Cheeseburger, thinking it would be like the massive burgers you get in the local fish and chip shops. Well that was a shock to the system - I remember thinking, "It's small and there's nothing on it!"
When I had the opportunity to go to McDonalds in Sydney in 1988, I ordered a BigMac.
Whatever you usually do for party food, it will always be a hit anyway.
