80s Fashion fancy Dress Interview

Recently, I had the honour of being interviewed by Darren, owner of Big Mix Mobile Disco. Here's what was said.

Big Mix Mobile Disco

Please take a moment to introduce yourself and explain a little about what your website offers?

Hi. My name is Deni, and I was a child of the 80s, and totally loved it! The 80s fashion and fancy dress website offers pages and pages of tips, how to’s and ideas for err well.. 80s fashion and 80s fancy dress.

What made you start your website, briefly explaining any thoughts or ideas that came to you in the start of your online conquest?

I loved the 80s decade so much so, that I decided to create a website on something that I was experienced and very interested in. This means I am able to keep content on the site fresh as I keep writing and adding pages of information about 80s fashion and 80s fancy dress ideas.

What would you say are your top 5 80s fashion fancy dress pages?

That’s easy. I just need to check my stats, and here they are..

The first, is in front by a good margin of over 3000 page views per month, of the next most popular page. The dazzling, beautiful, 80s singing, modeling sweetheart from your country (Darren's from the UK) who begged us to touch her… Samantha Fox.

The next most popular aside from the actual home page itself are:
- 80s Celebrity Hair
- 80s Headbands (Who would have thought that page was so popular?)
- 80s Madonna Look
- 80 Hair Accessories

Actually, this list is good. Do I have to stop at 5? Let’s do 10..
- 80s Makeup
- 80s Icons
- Clothes Worn in the 80s
- 80s Hair
- 80s Punk Fashion

The page orders will swap around. (Except for Sammy) Currently, we have nearly 60 pages, and the list will keep growing.

What would be your favourite 80s fancy dress costume?

Ha ha – while I can get away with it… Sammy Fox.. I have the boobs and blonde hair  Never mind the fact that there’s a few extra kilos and wrinkles – lol. Well, if I wasn’t that brave (and intoxicated) I would have to say 80s Madonna Look, although these days, it’s probably not so much a costume any more, as it’s more like fashion.. Hmm what else..

Okay, the boy’s costume’s are fun: Rambo and Risky Business.

And for 80s fashion, what do I love? The fluro clothing, also known as neon clothing. Been searching high and low for the fluro socks we used to wear in 1984.. If you see them back in fashion and selling online, please let me know?

What are your top tips for anyone wanting to do an 80s theme party?
- Plan a few months out, so you can make sure guests can do their treasure hunting for bits with their costumes, and order online if need be.

- Hunt the charity shops for cheap treasures such as 80s dresses, 80s tapes, 80s LP’s and home wares. These make great props, and can also be used as prizes later in the evening. Plus they are super cheap.

- When you have worked out your costume, ask family and friends if they have anything in their cupboard that would suit your outfit / theme. You may be surprised as to who has what.

- Girls, make you have an 80s hair style and some lace to match your 80s fancy dress.

- Play 80s music.

- Check out my website and look for ideas and how to’s for your 80s costume.

Anything else you’d like to share with Big Mix Mobile Disco and it's customers?
Yes please. Hey, I am looking for original photo’s to share, of people with original, cheesy, cool, 80s outfits and hair styles. Thanks.
By the way, here’s mine.
